Description

A robust blend with flavor notes of dark chocolate, toffee, and hints of spice in aroma and cup. Crazy Goat is perfect for those looking for a balanced but assertive cup. Great over ice—this is what we use for our cold brew!

Curious about the name? Crazy Goat is inspired by the beginning of coffee, when coffee cherries were discovered by an Ethiopian goat herder named Kaldi. Noticing that his usually calm goats were jumping around crazily after eating some red berries, he decided to try them. And voila, the crazy, exciting world of coffee was born.

Solid Medium Roast

I prefer darker roasts, and don't mind losing some of the more delicate notes of lighter roasts. This coffee was right in the middle of, or just barely past the middle of medium roast to me. The beans are quality though, and handled well. I passed this along to a friend after having 3 pour overs of it. I enjoyed the smooth, balanced and clean cup, but wanted to move on to something more roasty, which was the Organic Rainforest Blend. I found that one a little darker, but not much, and still not quite enough. Italian Roast is next. Stay tuned.

I added this to my list of favorites

I was hesitant to order this blend because of the "spice" flavor noted on the label. There are literally hundreds of spices, so the generic word "spice" wasn't descriptive enough in my opinion. Well, I'm VERY glad I ordered it. I love dark chocolate and that taste comes through. As far as spices, I detected cinnamon and a slight hint of nutmeg. I made espresso with this coffee; I think pour over and Chemex methods would also result in great results with this blend.

One of My Favorites

Crazy Goat makes one smooth cup o joe. True to its description, it's very balanced, with a little sweetness. It's equally as good (or better, according to my spouse) as a cold brew, where the slow steep brings out more subtle flavors. Every way I've had it, it's a great coffe that I come back to time and time again.

My Favorite Coffee

Love the flavor. Hints of chocolate and toffee, without any artificial sweetness or flavored coffee taste. Very much a strong medium roast with zero acidity or internees. This is the only coffee I drink after discovering it two years ago.

Crazy Goat Blend

Been running this roast for a while now and it’s one of my favorite go to’s for my morning espresso as it blends well with mixed flavor espresso drinks. I’ve been using the bottomless subscription so my beans are roasted fresh prior to shipping out.

Beans are ALWAYS fresh, that’s what keeps me coming back, I’m getting excellent brew metrics in espresso with good crema and coloration, full extraction and flavor profiles. In pour-over you get a bit more of the natural flavor notes tending towards light roast notes with a slight grassy aftertaste that lingers after the body.

The only thing I have noticed after about a year running these beans in espresso and carefully data logging all my metrics on every morning’s brew, is that over time these beans have started to be toasted lighter and lighter. The packaging and advertising pegs it at a med-dark roast which is what I liked about the original batches. However as time and my subscription have progressed, and based on my personal data I’ve collected, the beans have been getting roasted on a lighter profile than the original subscription batches (and in-store batches). I would put these current batches more a solid medium tending even towards a light-medium (city or less).

I’m not sure if it’s a time issue as they are roasting based off my auto scale ordering and trying to roast and ship in a specific time frame but seems like the beans are getting under roasted a tad bit for what these are advertised to be.

Still not a deal breaker as I can modify my brew characteristics to compensate, and they are still fresh beans, good quality, and delivered in a Very timely fashion. Definitely would recommend.

Solid option for milk drinks

Bold, more traditional roast. Great for cortado/cappucino etc.
