We've all been there. You've got 20 minutes before you need to leave the house and you're scrambling to get it all done in time. Breakfast, coffee, packing a lunch...it's busy. What's worse is when you're running around the kitchen trying to find everything you need. "Where is the tamp?" "Where is my favorite cup?" "Why are coffee grounds everywhere from yesterday?" We know. Let's talk about how to improve it. Here's to great starts to your day...
Collect all of your coffee items in one place
Take some time, okay maybe an hour or two, to reorganize your space. To do this, grab all of your coffee-related items in one place. From here you can assess what you use, what you like and what you need and what you don't.
Filter out what you need and what you don't
You know you haven't used that cheap, old french press for 2 years - throw it out! Here's your chance to re-assess; "Do I really need this?" because space is valuable! It may be a chance, also, to assess your devices. Are you using the right device? Think about it.
A couple of electric options include a a great automatic drip machine, like the Breville Precision Brewer™ Thermal. Looking for a device for great espresso? Have a look at the Breville the Barista Express™.
Ready to dial it in yourself?
If you're looking for something more hands on and adjustable, you'll most likely want to go unplugged. A pour over (such as a Chemex) would be your go to. A french press is non-electric but also quite fast in the sense that all you have to do is pour the ground beans and the water, do whatever you need to for 4 minutes and you come back to ready coffee. Some people think these options take more time and for others, the ability to make small, adjustments that result in a better cup are worth a little bit more time and effort.
For single origin coffees, try the Six Cup Classic CHEMEX®. Just in search of a quick and delicious option? Try a French Press.
Set up canisters, syrups, and make it your own
Now that you have your brewing equipment, you can start getting fancy with decor, syrups, canisters for your coffee beans, and even aesthetically pleasing compartments for your filters. At the end of the day, your coffee station is yours and it’s your first stop in the morning, so make sure it’s one you love. But, keep one thing in mind - organize your station based on what you use daily. For example, if you only occasionally use syrup, put that lower or behind certain other items. Keep at the front and foremost your main brewing device, and necessary items like a scale, scoop, grinder, etc.
