"Best Espresso in the World"

World Barista Championship, Japan 2007

Description

Named Best Espresso in the world at the World Barista Championship, Japan 2007.

Initial notes of sweet dark chocolate and orange citrus later give way to a syrupy-sweet taste of wine-like berry and spice.

This competition espresso won the honor as over 45 countries competed for the WBC title. World’s Best features three legendary beans—Brazil Yellow Bourbon, Sumatra Lake Tawar, and Ethiopian Natural. Each is roasted separately using our signature peak of flavor method, then expertly blended together.

An old fave

I buy this all the time: it’s reliably excellent and remarkably consistent from batch to batch. It’s nearly the best thing I’ve gotten from Klatch—the very best was a wonderful all-Ethiopian espresso called Daybreak, which seems to have come and gone. Anyhow, WBC World’s best is much recommended.

Great espresso blend!

For years, this has been one of my two go-to espresso blends, the other being Klatch’s Belle, both brewed on my Rancilio Silvia v.1, upgraded with VST baskets. If I want a more chocolate forward espresso, it’s World’s Best Coffee—truly an appropriate name. If I want more fruit forward, it’s Belle. Great crema in doppios, also in milk drinks where the chocolate raises its head and says “Hello, here I am." I alternate every couple of bags so I won’t risk getting jaded. So far, that plan has worked well and no desire to consider anything else. Way to go, Klatch!

The best beans ever

I just purchased a new espresso machine and chose to use WBC beans. Wow, the taste/flavor is incredible. It makes a latte that is smooth, easy to sip, and overall just tastes like it came from the coffee shop.

Pretty good

Pretty good blend. Low acidity, smooth flavor, good body. As the beans age they get subdued a bit and a lot less interesting.
